The VanEck #Bitcoin ETF will use the $HODL ticker symbol. VanEck will use Coinbase to custody their coins for them. Ironic.
I was impressed when I saw that the Fidelity fund plans to self-custody, but I guess it’s not surprising given their history. For those who have accounts where the money is unfortunately locked into trad-fi, the Fidelity ETF seems like the only one of them worth considering.
fidelity is the only one out of all of them that is doing it correctly.
I will continue to use me as the trusted custodian of my Bitcoin. Although it is yet to be seen if I am a truly responsible custodian. honestly, it’s debatable.
this is the way. it's also the way to teach newcomers the differences between having a piece of paper saying you own the asset versus owning the asset.
Did an etf get approvid? 🤔
No, just listing of the ticket symbol. Fidelity's is $FBTC.
I heard off Bloomberg that VanEck was going to use Gemini for custody. Are you sure they’re going to use Coinbase? I saw a graphic that showed Fidelity was going to self custody, hashdex was unknown, and 9 of the 12 are using Coinbase. If vaneck is using Coinbase now that would be 10 of 12. https://www.coindesk.com/resizer/IpFTEdqiA8B7ymowmvGIvWDRlDQ=/811x1014/filters:quality(80):format(webp)/cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com/coindesk/VLVQZ4EBGNEJBK2SLB3LXQCBRM.png
I've seen it reported both ways. Either way, they're not HODLing anything.
