"Why didnt anyone think of that before?".

Was the first thing I thought when I read through #pubkey. Reusing the 10 million node bittorrent network is genius and already provably censorship resistant for 15 years.

You dont have to build up your own network of relays because millions of people run bittorrent already. You dont need special hardware because there are so many bittorrent clients.

Censorship resitance is a reality and anyone can run a node. That's not to say the nostr relay network isnt useful, it is very useful. But reusing bittorrent just takes things to a new level.
 Web torrent is the way!!
I used to think so. And I like the desktop client, though qbittorrent i prefer. But are there any actual web clients for it, that are useful? instant.io seemd a bit unmiantained.
I am still exploring it for my project. I liked the simplicity of p2pfileshare.com
It leverages OSS webtorrent and webrtc
But Bittorent is not on a Blockchain......or has it moved ?
I think the topic is nostr relays. So no blockchains involved
Are the relays not on Blockchains ? Sorry if I am being daft... But as I understand it, Torrent is peer to peer...the security though is undeniable..BUT not as strong as chains... But the idea is tremendous....to utalise the torrent network..Genius
Relays are just plain stupid servers. It’s the crypto involved in signing of notes, paired with the idea of having free-to-choose easy-to-run relays that makes nostr powerful. So, no block chains or PoW in that sense.
there’s no need for that type of consensus here. Bitcoin needs it to prevent double spend etc.

Although, when I first joined I actually thought exactly like you, that there were blockchains involved.
So you’re not daft. Just didn’t know that fact yet! I’m still daft about most stuff though 🤪
Oh No you Not, there is a Logic to the way you think, I can see that... -
HA HA..Thanks for that - you are a Gent for explaining that. Good stuff . I love all this.
It mostly doesnt work. But there is one that does with a track record. Namely bittorrent. And #pubky worked out a way to use it for more than just torrents. That is good thinking.
