Regret having children? Or not having any? It's mostly one directional.

Among 45+ year old Americans:

7% of those with children would have 0 if they could go back.

56% of those without children would have some if they could go back.

I absolutely adore my children. It’s been one helluva journey, good and bad, but wouldn’t change it for a thing 💜
Only 7% of American parents still have to understand the concept of unconditional love. That’s doable.
So 3% of people who have no children wish they had 6or more!!!! That’s some serious opportunity missed!!! 😂
Many can't make that choice. Life's not that simple.
This poll is from 11 years ago.

I'd be curious how much those numbers have shifted.

Very likely by a significant degree.
I thought the same thing. I got a feeling there is more regret now.
 Maybe.

I find that many people now have uncertainties about the future.

Anectodally, most of my friends who are approaching that age feel more strongly about not having kids.

My wife and I chose not to have children for many reasons. Not the least of which was non trivial health complications she would undoubtedly face.

We make our choices and we make the best life we can with them.
Yea every circumstance is different but majority of the 56% that have regrets I would bet half got caught up in the career and put off having kids until it was too late. I see it in a lot of the woman I graduated with. I also can sympathize, my wife is mid thirties and we tried for a long time before she eventually got pregnant last month after help from the fertility clinic. Everyone got to do what is best for them. Regret is rough though and fiat standard is making people make hard choices that seem like have led to some regret. Wish you and your wife the best though 🫂.
 Congrats brother.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Wish you and your wife happiness. Sorry to hear there could be some implications with birth if you guys decided to try and have a kid. That is not easy 🫂. I have a cousin who has a similar circumstance. God bless brother.
Children give purpose and meaning to people lives. ♥️
They are a shit lot of work but give back way more than they take.
