On the Downpour app, you can download the audiobook for offline listening. If you want to download the DRM free files you can also login to their website using desktop or desktop browsing mode and download it from there.
It is worth noting that I have heard, "While much of Downpour's content is DRM free and allows for usage across platforms, select products on Downpour are required by publishers to have DRM-protected files."
I have not come across any yet that were not DRM free.
Awesome thank you! I don't really use a smart phone so browser is ideal if they allowed it
Books on tape. No Turing machine are harmed (or used).
Might be a lot of tapes though.
What kind of tape are we talking and where buy?
I know right! If only they existed. If only I could automated making podcasts or audiobooks to tape. Upload a link or audio, get mailed some cassettes.
I would love the novelty of that. I'd pay for that subscription! Then I would just need to take a Walkman with me when I travel. I try not to take a smartphone with me on walks and such, and even then it's pretty locked down.
I'm noodling the idea for sure. If Podcaster could keep to 60 minutes that would help 🤣
Maybe it's an AI voice to text to voice recap. 🤷♂️
But yeah this is what I do. I use my legit Sony walkman for walks with tapes. There are two modern ones, the FiiO CP-13 is actually pretty good with usbc charging. But significant heavier than a AA powered device.
There are some ali express models that aren't horrible.
I'm a big fan of quality and no internet connection so I appreciate the recommendation! I only have my diskman around, I don't think I have my walkman anymore, it's been a long time since I looked for it.
