Losing Youtube would be devastating… for everything else there are pretty good alternatives. 
 I think losing youtube might be one of the best things that could happen. Resets like that are what fuel better alternatives. Gmail might be the best one to fail actually.

 "Too big to fail"  is a fallacy regardless of the thing. Usually just means artificial life support and a bigger eventual failure.  
 Yes if shareholders expect profits. Therefore they are forced to make changes in the app to onboard new customers and "make better experience" for everybody. Then subscriptions comes along and Old customers leave. 

When writing this I have my experience with GoPro in mind. If they make the best action cam in the universe, they have no chance to get me back as a customer.
