How do you add RSS feeds to your nostr feed? Is there an easy way for simpletons like me? #asknostr
There is a way but I forgot
are you still using those nostr RSS accounts?
what is rss feed?
I can't give you a proper technical answer lol, but you know like when a blog has a new post. You can subscribe to that and it'll pop up. So yeah you can follow a bunch of blogs and it'll come up as notifications when new stuff is posted. I'm.sure someone will give you a better answer tho lol. (I suppose this is a RSS feed, as is twitter?)
Here you go technical explaination 😋 https://xkcd.com vs https://xkcd.com/rss.xml websites have a file for rss - its just a text file with links and content that updates whenever the owner publishes something new. rss readers listen for the change and then pull in the data, putting most recent posts in front.
Really Simple Syndication. A web document you can request, like a web page, that helps users/apps track updates to other pages without having to visit each page individually. Usually includes a summary and metadata like publishing dates. Commonly used to distribute news headlines, blog posts, audio/video updates.
Try https://atomstr.data.haus . I've previously used https://rsslay.nostr.moe/ but that seems like it's down.
Thnaks! this is a nice and easy RSS feed adder that even I managed to use lol :) nostr:note1mk2vnn5pg302g5wgx6t0glq46e2dmt5lm3c0lny5jqsa7derkmfsss97pk
https://rss.nostr.band
I tried this but 'Create' takes me to home page or something. 🤔 The best one seems to be the one @0xtr posted. Sets it up with a profile pic and all that. (I'm probably just kot good at this lol)
Maybe it’s not supported anymore? 🤔 @brugeman How does rss.nostr.band work?
Oh it's broken :(, the rss feed was based on settings some search query and then using it for the feed, but this wasn't implemented on the new nostr.band app. Honestly I'd be happy if people used something else, will remove it from the menu, don't have time to support it because barely anyone ever used it.
LOL, thanks. 😆
Try https://atomstr.data.haus - Add your feed, then subscribe to it with your fave client.
Yep I tried this and it's great. But was looking for a way to have a curated feeds made up of many RSS feeds, which then publishes to an nPub I can access. And can the tweak the curated RSS feeds by adding or removing. Having multiple curated feeds. That sorta thing.
Ah, I see. But this will be a pretty centralized thing. What about combining several RSS feeds in a nostr list?
#asknostr Gonna try this again lol. Not sure I'm explaining it well tho, so bear with me. 🥹😚 nostr:nevent1qqsr6yzgul06u74vk50hv088kc5f35vsvag3lpgx8kqghdtzck9xzespzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5hsygyu5z7hg5r5944zqvvupc75ceuunczx48w8p6802hpfqh3yq535pvpsgqqqqqqs4gf9t9
Anyone know who made the @Nostr News account? That is the kind of thing I'm taking about lol. Who do you go about making something like that?
Maybe @Don't ₿elieve the Hype 🦊 you might be able to help me with this question lol. (It's not what you're working on in that amethyst thing you posted, but maybe you you have the knowhow lol)
Basically, if I understand you right, it's a bot that listens to a RSS feed and every time there's something new it posts a note? And you follow these bots on a list and have a nostr RSS reader?
I think so 🤔 The 'Nostr News' account is basically an automated or bot account posting the RSS feeds of infowars, zerohedge and breitbart. Whoever is behind that account can add another source of take away a source. Just wondering how. And if there was a nostr world way of managing a nPub which did this 🤔. Or just generally. Annoying question lol
But yeah I think that is what you said, basically making a nPub that functioned as a personal RSS reader 🤔
Hm I think it's basically pretty easy, use some existing code for RSS feed reading. If something new -> tell the bot to post a note. Win.
I have no idea how to do any of that 😿 lol Doesn't matter lol
If I have time I can maybe set something up 🤙
Cc: @doot 🤔
another interesting approach would be combining RSS feeds to make a timeline. instead of pulling notes from relays, when you open your ‘algo’ feed, your client combines 10 RSS feeds i.e. top notes of the day, mentions popular movies, mentions xyz, which is made up of notes.
Top liked on nostr can be a bit repetitive, as the primal trending tab shows. I wonder if say having a sort of likes as % of follows added as a factor would help. Eg someone has 50k followers, posts something/anything and gets 70 likes. That is just a normal post. Someone with 300 followers makes a post that gets 20 likes, that is more of a post worth considering. I suppose this is the theory behind 'zaps are the signal', but I'm not entirely convinced, I think it is often not that dissimilar to Read Receipt likes for bigger accounts. Just an aside. But I like your idea:)👀 Wonder if these DVM feeds coming to amethyst will have something along these lines
We are working on something which should offer that. Stay tuned! https://nostr.day/
