They stated that if the Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF) in all yards are not compliant with the Hong Kong Convention by 2025, no new ship breaking approval for recycling will be obtained from the Ministry of Industry. The discussion also highlighted that Bangladesh is one of the leading ship recycling countries in the world. The Hong Kong International Convention, 2009 (Hong Kong Convention) was enacted for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of end-of-life ships.
