The integrated wallet is nice, I don't think there's any argument there. Some people have different preferences though. Each client has their own trade offs. Nostr gives us these choices.
Of course, that is what makes nostr so good. The direct zapping function was the real magic introduced by damus on iOS first weeks.
Primal does it with a custodial wallet provided by @strike and direct sats purchases for those wallets from ApplePay. It’s a nice experience but even though it’s open source it isn’t something you could easily run on your own.
Thats right, for small mounts that I zap, is totally fine. You can also send elsewhere bought sats there and zap it. I think, that would make damus a comparable client too, if they integrate it too. And btw, apple should go to hell with their policies.
It’s quite pricey and complicated to do the strike integration. Plus it’s custodial and means that if you rely on it then the app loses its ability for users to build and run things themself aspect of open source. I suspect the second reason is why @jb55 hasn’t done it.
I think with the little complicated node connection for the direct zapping, Damus could also add this custodial service too and user decides what they take.
if its working for you then fine, use that. it doesn't even work on my account. I also run my own node and zap with that, I can't do that on primal. there are plently of reasons to use a more decentralized client. I'm ok with the slightly worse UX for now, at least we can slowly make UX better with better L2 tech while retaining our core tentants around decentralization.
Yes, it works really fine. An understanding question: can I zap notes like before apple turned it off, with my own node? I thought it only applies for zapping Accounts, note notes.
