I was interested in Nostr after seeing the #Nostriga on YT and saw Jack and ODELL talking about it. I am definitely looking to meet new friends here and curate a community of like minded people. I will let you know

I was scanning a twitter post about how we need a social media platform that can’t be censored. People were mentioning Nostr in the comments and saying it already exists. That is how it started for me!

Facts! Have you been learning about how it works? very different from the architecture of typical social media platforms. in fact, there is no platform. It’s just a protocol. A loose way to coordinate how clients get built and how relays respond and so on. nobody controls the users. We all just float around doing what we want. It’s glorious! 😝

1) Heard about NOSTR through researching Lyn Alden and reading 'Broken Money'. 2) A low stress way to disseminate fact-based information that others may find useful and possibly to find some collaborators for my projects. 3) What is the best way to introduce new accounts so that people will take a look at the available content. 1) great writer/speaker 2) you’ll find the vibe on nostr is low stress… esp compared to centralized algorithmic controlled engagement baiting media networks :P 3) best thing right now is to just participate in conversations with people you’d like to exchange ideas with. You could also consider writing about your hobbies/passions/interests/views and see who shows up to agree/disagree. in my experience people are pretty cordial here

Thanks for your response ... hope you will check out the content I have been providing and would value any input you might have. Not sure if there is a NIP or something that would track views of posts so that one could see if anyone is actually looking even if they don't follow ...

i haven’t seen any nips around reporting view count. it’s probably possible in a somewhat privacy preserving way, but could certainly get complicated depending on the approach. do you think view counts would contribute to a lot more creation?

In my case, being new and putting out something that I think has value (I guess everyone thinks their content has value) I can't tell if no one is seeing it or if folks are just not interested after having seen it . If folks are not interested I have other ways I can spend my time ... again thanks for engaging on this...

I just browsed through your feed. A few ideas... 1) if you’re new here it can help to chime in with people who are already talking about something you care about and share your own perspectives/opinions on the topic so you’re already gathering with relevant people 2) your avatar/name could be confused for being a bot even though you sound like a human to me, maybe consider adding more human personality (even if pseudonymous) to help people get more comfortable engaging with you 3) some of your posts seem to be reporting on information that looks like it could’ve been pulled in an automated way… I would guess you’ll find your mutuals here if you share your opinions more than reporting on stats/facts 4) there are minimal/no algorithms (yet!) so it’s pretty hard for anyone to find the good stuff anyway, so it definitely takes some work for now — I believe solutions are right around the corner, but not broadly available yet

Quick question if you will pardon the intrusion, I am looking to implement Custom Reactions ala NIP-25 in a message generated in a primal client... any pointers on where to look or who to ask about prior art on that ? I realize this might be question that serves to illustrate, my ignorance, but so be it ...

1. Sounds wise… keep them close! 2. What are you looking to access? 3. It’s a little tricky to find good accounts to follow. I might suggest looking at the accounts of some people who seem reasonable to you, check their profile and see who they follow. Then follow some of the people they follow quite liberally to populate your feed with interesting/active stuff. I hope we can make this easier for new users at some point

Yup, that’s the magic of nostr. Your posts (and followers) are spread out across relays and they’re not tied to Primal or Damus or any other app. It’s all interoperable/interchangeable. You control the private keys that let you sign the messages and you send them to relays. Everything else just works with everything else.
