 @091f63f5 Oh, I didn't realize birds had seasonal coloring in that way. Aren't you in a locale that has pretty much the same weather year round? 
 @748f4f74 New feathers are definitely more colorful and shiny. 

The adult birds here do a big molt at the end of Summer, the end of breeding and nesting season. By then, their feathers are usually faded, sun-damaged, or are in poor condition. They're joined by the Summer's fledglings that are growing their first sets of adult feathers. 

The crows and jays started a little earlier. In a couple of weeks, some of the earlier pigeon molts should be complete with later ones finishing just in time for Winter.
