I did pay for the wine relay, I actually don't even know why I did it. Seems somewhat pointless. I don't subscribe tho. Tbh if it reached a point where people HAD to pay for social media, I would simply not use social media and be happy lol

I paid and renewed for Wine relay too, mostly because Mazin seemed to be one of the earlier guys experimenting with different ways to run and setup relays etc. Of course there are free alternatives, but someone's gotta pay the bills otherwise we'll be back at "if its free, you are the product" before you know it. I feel sometimes there are wealthier people NOT paying to push things forward though, which is annoying to think about.

Yeah, I basically liked the cut of his jib and like the wine logo. But ultimately for me personally, if it reached a point of having to pay for social media (whether it's Nostr or not) I would quite happily do without. (I'd probably go as far as it perhaps being a societal benefit for social media just died cos no one thought it was worth paying for - besides in the 'beinf the product' way lol). But I don't have any skin in the game, I'm not making a living online or whatever. You can sort of see how maybe the future holds more and more mass passivity / lurking/consuming on social media for the majority of the masses and 'content creators' (for want of a better word, I'm usimg this neutrally tho lol) paying small fees on sites like twitter or nostr. Mostly because they've calculated a net benefit. (Although, perhaps there is way more altruistic donating going on on nostr (?))
