Normally, phone vendors try to sell the newest model because the profit margin is the highest
But why would you want a Pixel 6a?
--Great for an easy second phone, we sell them for just $245
--Reduce having to send large amounts of cryptocurrency, it's low risk
--Maybe you aren't ready to switch over every app of iPhone or stock android, but you can still get the benefits of a degoogled phone for your personal apps like Nostr, Signal, SimpleX, Bitcoin, Monero, ect.
--Isolate your work or personal life. Or some high risk apps.
--The newer models have physical hardware for location tracking, with "find my phone", that COULD potentially be a hardware backdoor. 6a doesn't have this
--GrapheneOS still will have 2-3 years of security updates for the 6a. You're telling me you're gonna use the Pixel 9 for three years? Get outta here, by then we'll have Pixel 99999
--Google is abusive and releases new models rapidly, that have very little benefit to the end user, so you're enabling them to profit from ripping you off.

Lmao I'm still running around perfectly happy with my two 4a models I installed GrapheneOS to, back in 2022.
I'll forward this to my peeps who haven't been convinced it's OK to not buy the Pixel 9 right now
6a is a great device. It's my daily driver and serves me well. Never saw the need for purchasing the more expensive 9-a pixels.
Would "Find my Phone" be a backdoor if it's on stock Google Android?
