It’s wild to me how much hypocrisy exists even among highly principled maximalists. We turn a blind eye to what suits our world view as long as it’s convenient to us.
Internal consistency is a high bar.
Only if you mean consistent studying and evolving in opinions. Which is by far the hardest thing for us.
What do you mean? Do you have any examples?
I don’t disagree with this general sentiment but I think your argument would be aided by some examples.
One example: it's always surprised me how many "freedom maximalists" explicitly support authoritarian leaders (including some pretty brutal dictators), seemingly because democracies aren't perfect 2nd: "Libertarians" passionately defending the massacre unleashed on Gaza by the state of Israel (and yes, ofc Hamas is also evil)
They have to die to themselves and realize just how entangled they are in the system… be patient and continue to learn and evangelize. I used to get extremely upset about it especially when I would attend conferences and experience the hypocrisy. Now, I focus on projects that reflect bitcoins ethos and make friends with people who are genuine … the others will be humbled or lost.
