 Why especially mothers? Heaps of kids don't spend enough time with their dads. Parenting is 50:50. I'm speaking from a position on many decades of experience.

 I would blame screens in general, be it a phone or a tv, it’s no good. 
Spending time not just with the parents, but having grandparents at home is a blessing. 

Books are the way to go
