I'm sure it would be quite amusing to watch the Brazilian government wrap its stupid little head around Nostr.
One should never underestimate it's enemies.
One should never give more credit than is due.
Dangerous choice.
I don't live my life based on what the safest choices are. If I did, I'd do nothing worthwhile and neither would have most of the people whose names history remembered. I'm not advocating for stupidity. I'm advocating for being the best you possibly can instead of sitting around estimating what your enemy is capable of. If I'm doing the best I can no matter what, estimation is wasted energy. Nostr is the best I've found and it is getting better. I don't think any state can beat us until we give up.
Sure, I hear you. But I see lots off people on Nostr saying that, since their on a VPN, they can do whatever they want and the state bitches won't be able to cath or stop them. That is just not true. I am not saying that whatever you're doing is wrong, since I don't even know what you are doing, but many people here are full of confidence without realizing the dangers they are exposing themselves and families to. My initial comment was in that sense, since I see lots of overconfidence, especially with this Brazil nonsense. I just wish for people not to commit stupid mistakes because they think they are safe when that is jot the case.
Agreed. That indeed is not true. I'm not hiding my identity though. We were misunderstanding each other on that part. I'm quite openly protesting by using Nostr, which is what I meant by doing everything within my power given the consequences I have accepted. I already know the state can see me. I just don't care because I'd rather die in the light than live in the shadows. But my way isn't for everyone everywhere. Peace, friend.
Stay safe and thank you for this conversation. Take care

Yes, using Tor with any known account is already a warned against activity from Tor. I think we were making different points. I meant from the perspective of them internally banning Nostr by way of having a company block access to it. There is no CEO to run to. Civil Disobedience is important and effective at times.
Yes your are right. That would be difficult for them.
From what I understand, the ban is on X operating there as a company, not necessarily people circumventing blocks on IP and using it anyway. They can't just tell Nostr not to let Brazilians use the protocol.
My understanding is that that here an efty daily fine for those who use a VPN to circumvent the ban on X. Something along the line of 8000$ a day or whatever. I am not Brazilian, but this is what I've been reading, so I am not sure on the values. But if correct is a huge fucking number to pay those fuckera daily, of caught.
That could be true. I thought that was a fine for X for each case, but I could have misunderstood.
Me too. So I am not sure. It sucks either way.
