 Not actually true. Many highly intelligent people aren't rich, nor do they care about trivial nonsense like the illusion of success and being bogged down with unnecessary burdens. The more possessions, the more things to maintain and drain your energy and distract from your learning.

 You can be rich without owning much. 
 Then what do you do, horde the money? It just sits there.. sometimes losing value,  sometimes gaining. It's useless.  
 It provides you with autonomy and optionality. 
 Nvm all the people that will be begging with  their hands out.  
 Their definition of rich usually doesn't fit intelligent people's criterial but most of those said people are comfortable.
