If you live in america and not super far away from a city check copart.com auctions. They sell repossessed and other cars. You can get a decent used car for 2grand. You have to pay a company a couple hundred to buy the car for you as a middle man and immediately transfer it to you if it cost more than 1500(varies by state) but you can save a lot of money. Sort by certified runs and drive on the site and you can even go start it up before the auction if you want.
