Europe also has a bit more experience with being partially occupied by Russia. Even those who don't care specifically about Ukraine are not happy to see Russia move in the direction of the Berlin wall again.

(I visited Ukraine three times in the past twenty years, so can even recognize some of the places that have been attacked - that's also a connection many Americans don't have, it's just a place seen on TV)
