This leads me to think about Bitcoin hardware like nodes, cold wallets and miners.

They can be a target of cyber hacking. 

 Pretty sure they had actual explosives installed, via either interception of the shipment or collusion with the manufacturer. Most likely intercepted the shipment. 

 Supply chain hacking is an issue.
