 I'll say something slightly controversial:
I will start saying that all taxes are theft, at least in principle because there is no willingness into the taxpayers and obviously behind the "request" there is a threat of violence.
This said, we are at a point in Laffer's curve where the fiscal revenue is at a maximum but also the tax rate is at one of the highest in history (for us Italians). Services that a state should provided, are not provided in an acceptable manner, lacking both in quality and in coverage.
Something is gonna break soon.
I believe that if the fiscal pressure was lesser and the services better provided, people would pay taxes more willingly, even if it's a forced transaction.

But, in a Keynesian economy like the EU's where spending and debt are more important than guarantee a future to the citizens, this minarchic scheme cannot exist.

The fact it is forced, even in Switzerland, is an issue, however not paying is not a criminal offense like in e.g. Germany. The cantonal system works well, each canton determines how little or how much tax is deemed ok. And then the citizens can choose where to go to pay it.

Now all it takes is someone with balls to create a zero-tax canton!! You sound like you would like to attempt that!!
lol in Italy there is no greater offense than evading taxes, murder excluded.
I'd be down to live in a country with no taxes and all services are on an opt-in system.
usually education is mandatory and not opt-in, however...
