What you call communists are actually moral authoritarians Yes, communists exist in the U.S., and that’s bad. But it’s much more the latter.
Moral authoritarian is an oxymoron. Communist works well enough to describe them. Moral gives them too much credit. Believe it or not, the people in the USSR thought their system was moral too.
I add the distinction bc many times they don’t care the mechanism. Sometimes it’s private, sometimes it’s public (government) Same for the right, btw…
I don't find much value in right/left distinctions. Authoritarian/libertarian is a much more useful indicator of how someone actually acts to me. I see what you're saying, I just think that authoritarian action against others is inherently immoral unless it is reactive.
