### Fedora vs Debian vs Arch

For all practical purposes, most Linux distros are built on one of three base distributions. Fedora .. Debian .. and Arch.

If you're curious what the differences are, the video below 👇 gives a good breakdown of these 3 base distros used for almost all Linux distributions.

Is it time to switch back to a Fedora based distro? Haven't run that distro in years.

He talks about rolling vs fixed distros. If you aren't familiar with Rolling vs. Fixed distros, 👉 [this post explains it](nostr:nevent1qqsftvjh63669slrssdq782tlcxzpjva2mlppxck9k3s586tgculqacpz3mhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338g6rsd3e9upzqndled79mkuzf8uu06uvy8spnuy0h7m7ch0d2sytv9zep04c6954qvzqqqqqqycxekr6).

I want to transition away from Ubuntu.
But I'm not sure if I should get debian with KDE or Gnome. Or if I should try arch based Manjaro.
Most apps I care about are .deb packaged. How could I install them on an arch based system from the developers site directly, if even possible?
Chances are there's an Arch version of the package you want.
Meh, basically he likes DNF better than the other package managers. OK.
Linux is Linux... if you know it well enough.

Distro mainly determines package manager, and init system. You can put whatever desktop you want on any of them, and theme it how you want, and spend countless hours tweaking and setting it up how you like. Or you can run Mint, and do something else your life, like date women.
💯 Mint w/ Cinnamon nails it for normies.
Mint nails it for non-normies too. I'm a Linux guru, but I have better things to do then to tinker with Gentoo or LFS.
I feel like immutable / atomic distros will be the future for normal users...
