In terms of the lightning wallets, my top recommendations would be:
Wallet of Satoshi 
Coinos
Aqua
Phoenix 
And minibits (ecash)

Each wallet has trade offs depending on what you need and what your bitcoin knowledge is

I'd suggest playing around with WoS, Coinos, and Aqua. Use small amounts (under 10k sats)

The Phoenix wallet is probably the best but requires some knowledge and setting up your own channel and liquidity.

And the ecash wallet is the next step in the journey. VERY useful but also early and new wallet.

 I just use wallet of Satoshi but I'm sure there's gotta be something better!   Hard finding Canadian specific stuff I find.   

 What about Zues? It's self custody.
