Every time I try to get umbrel or start9 on a usb stick it tells me that the drive is not readable. But I’m able to open it fine and copy to it. Any idea what’s going on? Tried Rufus and Balena already on both Mac and PC.
 Format type?
 They are fat32
 Try ext4
 Was going to suggest this
Not readable on the stick? What machine are you trying to put it on?
Can’t write the image file to it.
Hmm might be working now after updating Rufus
 Good luck with it!
 Try exFAT?
That’s really bizarre. However, I’ve always installed those platforms directly onto the drive that I’m going to use in the system.

I.e.. Flashed it to the SSD or flashed it directly to the SD card.
Try it on Linux using Popsicle from flathub.org.

You shouldn't be using malware and spyware pretending to be operating systems anyway. That goes for Crapple & Winblows. They aren't safe enough to deal with satoshies securely and privately.
 Have you tried using Disks?
Try different usb sticks. Not long ago I tried to boot installation of start9 from usb stick and BIOS didn't even recognize anything is plugged in but then I flashed the image some other USB stick, the BIOS recognized it and I was able to install it.

I have no Idea why some works with Balena but not recognized bon other devices.

I lost a few hours before I tried this simple step 🤦🏻‍♀️
