@02ecde16 I remember seeing Max Tegmark posting papers about "discovering" physical laws through an automated algorithm. I don't have the links, but I would imagine that optimization process would have some operationalization of complexity that it tries to minimize.

Yeah, I know that paper. For lack of a better (as in a more disparaging) phrase, I will term papers of that sort as "fashionable nonsense".
