the thing is that we've already had the petty tyrants try to fork bitcoin and make their fork the main chain, several of them, and one fucker who keeps on filing frivolous lawsuits relating to bitcoin as well

imagine the epic bullshit that politicians are gonna try... and fail, of course, but i bet we see national bitcoin forks with OFAC compliant, licensed miners and all that shit and everyone shocked when it goes to zero like all the rest

there will always be the international, nonpolitical, nonpartisan fork of bitcoin, even if they somehow manage to control a heap of the devs to do their bidding people will maintain a "classic" (the real) version and maybe if that happens we won't see more bullshit like segwit and taproot et al happening for a while during this period...

the game theory is that there needs to always be this "outside money" bitcoin and it will thus survive, because too many people are so deep in it and depend on it that even a massive coordinated multi-national political attack will still not get rid of the outlaw version
