Software updates don't need to be this often, if there are security vulnerabilities, that was bad code. If there's a problem in a library, that was a bad choice, low level libraries aren't as frequently updated anyways.
This is a FIAT mindset we've just come to accept. If my thingamajig keeps receiving updates it's good, otherwise it's bad.
Good software would run as is, for a long time. That's a measure of good software.
