The event, hosted at billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson's Palm Beach home, included co-hosts such as hedge-fund investor Robert Mercer, his daughter Rebekah, investor Scott Bessent, and casino mogul Phil Ruffin. The money raised will be allocated to a fundraising group that has spent tens of millions of dollars on Trump's legal fees. Trump's campaign emphasized that the amount raised was double what Biden raised last month in a star-studded fundraiser. The numbers will be confirmed when filings are submitted to the Federal Election Commission. Trump's campaign previously stated that it would be unable to match Biden's fundraising totals this year.
