He π is the sixth scientist of Chinese origin to receive this π award and the π second in the basic research π category π― since 1962. Chen, 58, was born in π― Fujian province, graduated from Fujian Normal University in 1985, and earned a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo π in 1991.
