I used to be a gamer.

-Console games across the board, although Super Smash Bros was the one I put over a thousand hours into.

-For PC, I played a lot of Subspace Continuum, StarCraft I and 2, and Overwatch.

I hardly play any digital games anymore, mainly because I work on my computer all day and want to touch grass in my spare time, although I do play Dungeons and Dragons tabletop.

sims and halo were my go-tos
What was your main race in SC?

I played Terran in SC1, and Zerg in SC2
For me it was Protoss in SC1 and Terran in SC2.
 Civilization was a good one
Played a decent amount of Civ 5.
I’ve wanted to try DnD for several years now and never had a good opportunity. Sounds like a lot of fun with the right crowd.
Dnd is when you put theater nerds and math nerds together. So fun.
Who do you play in Smash Bros?
 Fox. Others though too.
 You play D & D? That's pretty awesome.
I’ve got a thousand into 007 Golden Eye on N64. Showing my age
 Perfect Dark tho ??
 Laptop gun on felicity (facility)
 FarSight XR-20 👀👀👀
 who's your smash main though
 Fox.
D&D 5e or something better like Old-School Essentials?

https://www.dicebreaker.com/categories/roleplaying-game/feature/what-is-osr-old-school-rpg-classic-dnd
5e currently. Prior to that Pathfinder. Prior to that 3e.
No way I played subspace for years
Probably my second or third most played computer/video game.
I played the death star battle zone for years as well, I believe subspace was one of the first mmo games.
I got 10,000+hrs into Quake 3 Arena. After that I burnt out and quit gamig for 7 years and to this day I have never touched any online multiplayer game ever again (and I never will).

Thankfully, there is an endless treasure trove of amazing single player games out there.
Cool! What's your fav role in D&D?
Anything with magic. Could be a cleric, paladin, wizard, sorcerer, artificer, some sort of gish, arcane trickster, etc. or the DM.
Mental note: a Nostr implementation to play DnD
 Trench Wars? SWA?
My favorite was 17th Parallel. Trench Wars sometimes.
My first business in 1999 was an internet gaming cafe which I started so I could murder my friends in Quake II Arena.

I played an ungodly amount of Age of Empires II in my teens, on PC.

I'm almost a pure Monster Hunter gamer on console, with a few exceptions.
 🫡 I support this message.
Managed to get my kids into table top years ago. D&D and the like. Feels like a win to me every time the (now) teenagers run a campaign at the kitchen table.

I have far less time than I used to, which is fine. I still like to keep up with what I can though.

NGL eve online devoured like 10 years of my life and i still had to look up WTF Subspace Continuum was. I slowed down playing after discovering bitcoin and have come to a complete stop when i got off 3rd shift.
My uncle used to play Eve. Looked interesting, but never hooked me.
 My XBox 360 red-ring-of-death'ed in 2012 while I was half-way through Skyrim.

I then sold all my games and controllers and didn't play another video game until last winter when I downloaded Baldur's Gate. So I returned to 90's era gaming and I'm okay with that.
 Gaming was better then.
Try MTG! MTG Arena is a good way to dip your toes in.
I know a couple guys that talk about Arena
I’ve played MTG off and on for 25 years. Mostly the physical cards though. I dabbled either Magic Online a while back but not Arena.
You probably didnt play a merfolk deck with its demonic inflation haha
My guilty pleasure for a long time was RISK board game. And when we found online versions... My Lord 🫠 So much different maps and configuratios! So much fun and a bit of knowledge gathered along the way about geography, history, strategy and a bit of math 🤗 well at least that's what I tell myself 😅
Up until a few months back, I thought I was like you: spent most of my time in front of a screen for work, had played a few games, but didn't feel like a gamer anymore.

Then, my best friend told me Witcher 3 was amazing. I had bought it, but never played it, because of the reasons above. So, I gave it a try.

And man was I wrong...

The first weekend, without the wife and kid home, I played 8 hours a day. And I'm happy to progress after work. Not every day, but several times a week.

Maybe you're like me: you need to find a game you like. And you'll be a gamer again.
Got it sitting on the shelf, but haven't played it. Maybe I need to. 🤔
Accurate to ~12 hours, I fell asleep 2x.

I have been getting grilled about PoE
 How so?
I keep hearing I need to check it out. I know a few people that speak highly of it.
Feels good seeing people flock around a topic that's centered on enjoyment. Good does still exist.

I dig your coolness the more and more you share 🤙
Did you play lightning mode in Smash Bros?
I stopped gaming hard a few years ago in order to go down rabbit holes and start earning money straight out of med school but then I met nostr:nprofile1qqsxua0hju3e0j3jjhs0fjs0h3htnnreh6zm4lw4d0fhsgsv4rhwwnsprdmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68yurvv438xtnrdakj7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uq3camnwvaz7tmwdaehgun9d3shjtnev4nksun09eekjar99ujwapd9 and nostr:nprofile1qqsvmmxrr3kegphf5lttqpn5z24xv8vax8yqxhpl6ewqvvqarjkrhyspz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehx7um5wghxyctwvshszymhwden5te0danxvcmgv95kutnsw43z7nc43ae , and got lost in gaming for a month. Playing with bitcoiners is awesome, no regrets, especially since I think I needed to chill and charge my batteries. Ready to get back into the real world though, time really flies while having a good time but it doesn't pay the bills.

Never heard of Smash Bros, I had an Atari STE - Bubble Bobble, Prince of Persia, Rick Dangerous, Carrier Command, Stunt car racer & Gauntlet - I'll always remember the "You are about to die" voice on that one lol. Moved to SNES with Super Mario, Mario kart, Zelda - what a magnificent game! N64 was next and last - Goldeneye!

Recently got the Nintendo Switch (for my kids), well that was until I discovered I can download all the legacy games!
 Bubble Bobble: DDFFI
Golden Eye: The stacks map with the grenade launcher 👌
 DDFFI was cheating 😅
 Super Tux Kart! https://image.nostr.build/acfd8682ec16ee0e3866b7a7fc35935a01e88eea83b4516a10d769772ccbcdd0.gif

Play Dayz on Xbox and PC. Sometimes a little Fortnite but usually just Dayz...

I used to be a Snake main, but when Minecraft Steve came out, I switched to that. Love smash
Splinterlands on Hive ecosystem is interesting. I have been playing for more than 3 years now.
Used to be a console gamer then had 3 kids (going on 4) lol. One day when they’re old enough maybe I’ll return…
I have 6, they all inherited my gaming addiction. 😆
one day you'll have inhouse LAN parties again, full stack
Yes, I use to be a gamer myself. The addiction is hard yet the recovery is the hardest.
Subspace Continuum was by far the best game during my childhood. 10v10 or 12v12. If you know you know
holy crap I forgot about subspace fucking continuum

I was happy when I seen this. Original Diablo in a browser. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2024/08/behold-diablo-is-fully-playable-in-your-browser/
I’m really into hell let loose at the moment.
I've got my two boys addicted to Hero Quest , the board game. I'm delighted. I code enterprise software all day, playing board games and football out in the rain is the way to get away !
Did you play Asheron’s Call or the original Diablo?
