was having a conversation with a co-worker (age ~50) about Bitcoin and the pure hostility and illogical hate for it is mind boggling. When someone immediately calls it "the stupidest thing in the world" and says "it's destroying the environment beyond repair" it's difficult to even attempt to reason with them and explain how they're wrong without explicitly saying it and turning them off completely to Bitcoin.

I really just don't understand the straight up hostility and hatred people have towards something they don't understand.

The "people will believe what they want to believe" explanation is spot-on
Good morning! I find it fascinating when you get hit with strong resistance to Bitcoin...particularly as I spend so much time in my own world. I see it in new tech in my industry as well. There’s often an “us vs. them” mentality that kicks in.

I always like to ask what specifically worries them. What are they scared of...it's always interesting watching the emotions that come out of that.
people dismiss fundamental changes to the way of life because it requires them to adapt. and adapting is energy intensive
 Well said!
I agree that it's fascinating, and I find that people normally don't have actual reasons for their strong feelings towards Bitcoin, and deflect to something else that's less relevant
