last time i read a report about trying to microstamp the problem was that it stops making legible stamps very quickly, like a 100 rounds. of course its rare anyone mentions anything like replacement parts and how it would affect the entire scheme 

 It's literally a technology that doesn't work, but California found a judge to implement the law requiring it anyway.
