At $1M per whole coin, a sat costs $0.01. It no longer makes sense to bundle, and we do a one-time 1:100,000,000 split, keeping the BTC ticker. Overnight, #Bitcoin goes from $1M to $0.01. A penny stock. That’s when the real FOMO moon pump starts.
That implies a 100,000,000x increase in #BTC supply, and for what? Control of the value in fiat?
No, same supply. Just moving the decimal 8 places. Thinking about it as a stock split is just a helpful frame for people who don’t understand Bitcoin’s divisibility BTC price becomes sat price.
Ah, I misunderstood what you were saying. I agree with you. I feel like this is a common understanding between most Bitcoiners, we just don't like to talk about it much. The only other potential solution I see is ecash, which can be split into 1/100 of a sat for spending purposes. You would then need 100 ecash tokens to "cash in" to redeem 1 sat.
