Hi!
Following @Laeserin ‘s suggestion, I’m starting a new nostr account, here’s my #introductions post
I am a climber first, other stuff second. I am in a journey to get back in shape to climb an 8a again to honor the memory of my mother.
I expect the training to take about 18 to 24 months.
Hope to some day also work on building crimpstr, or something like that, a social network exclusively for climbers and replace mountainproject, 8a.nu, 27crags and other siloed climbing sites.
♥️ that you want to combine your work and hobby. Those are the most inspired projects.
If 500 people repost this, it'll sort of ruin the experiment.
From 5 followers to 50k in 2 minutes. 😂
He's trying to see how the other 99.99% lives, y'all.
I think most large npubs would be afraid to do this. They aren't used to the effort required to get yourself heard on Nostr, without constantly trending or every GM being boosted by 30 people.
They've... gone soft.
It’s kinda refreshing not seeing a million notifications
Yeah, it's harder, but more fun and you make closer connections to people.
This is now really funny. 🤣
HAHHAHAHAHHAH
Nostr CEO is going to try working in the mailroom.
😎
best way to spy on everybody 😂😂
😂 And you get to be rebellious. Rabble leader 💪🏼
No leaders 🫥
Chaos protocol
@Erik you were trying to build something like crimpstr, no?
Yeah I've been thinking about something like this for a couple years now. My first attempt was building something in top of ipfs, but that was kind of a nightmare.
At one point I scraped all of the routes from mountain project, I think I have them somewhere so it's a good "seed" to start something.
Creating a nostr client for climbing seems like the next logical step. Zapping or sending ecash to route developers would be 🔥.
I could see something like this for hiking, as well. 🤔
Totally! It's kinda like taking @PABLO 🌶️'s wikifreedia design, but applying it specifically to climbing / hiking.
Especially with climbing, people disagree on grades, and you might want to vote on a fork of a route, rather than giving admins all the power to keep the grade of a route.
This is a fantastic idea
Everything on my fork is 8a/v10
Yup, this is applicable on soooo many things that are hard to measure.
I'm down for helping on Crimpstr. It's an area that's ripe for disruption.
You seem like an interesting guy. I'll follow you
😃
Followed back
Anyone with “stoic” in their name is a friend of mine 😂
Ok. I was a little confused in that blossoming hellthread, i see
Fuck #crimpstr
(this note was brought to you by the #pinchstr collective)
Make a tufa and you’ve got yourself a deal
I don't know the Mountain Project, but the the AllTrails always came to me as a prime target for a public good.
Maybe with some features for gating the discoverability just for the locals would be nice.
It's annoying how all the nature gems have been getting increasingly exploited in last few years. Can bitcoin/nostr fix that?
We've been using Outdoor Active a lot. Don't know how popular that is, outside of Germany.
Not sure if promoting personal growth or doubling down on zap farming...
Either way I support it.. godspeed 👏👏
Really enjoyed my first two trips to the climbing gym, hope to enjoy many more!
OK but make sure you repost all of it here
When you get something running please let me know. I am very interested. I can definitely help get my local beta in there with updated photos of climbs I’ve done. I pass a ton of stuff hiking too.
I plan to only stick to crags/routes which already have public internet beta.
We have to see how the ethics around that evolves.
