The crooked #Tories are reshaping boundaries as one element toward giving themselves a chance at #GE2024.

This move & requiring ID to vote, has eerie voter suppression echoes of what the #Republicans / #GOP are doing in the US!

As they say: "When the US sneezes, the UK catches a cold". 🤷🏾‍♂️
@0f342e77 @b870d4c8 absolutely right, of course, about the voting ID law being a tory power grab, but “the crooked tories are reshaping boundaries” not the case. the outcome, unfortunately, does favour the tories, but largely at the cost of the SNP in this round, due to the post devolution calculus changes on malapportionment (which were ironically a consequence of labour enacted devolution). it also, thankfully, won’t save the Tory scum. the changes are due to population moves, compounded by the big flaw in the mechanism that counts registered voters not population. the BCE are delightfully independent, one of the few actually functioning components of the otherwise broken, institutionally corrupt UK political system propped up by *both* its primary beneficiaries, the PLP *and* Tories and comparing the boundary commission to the entirely partisan US electoral map process is without even the slimmest basis in fact

I'm happy to stand corrected. Admittedly I've not looked into this aspect in great detail, but I'm aware of Labour, Lib Dem & Green complaints that the reshaping of boundaries favoured the Tories, especially in rural areas.

Apologies if it was incorrect of me to liken it to the crazy situation in the US. 🙏🏾
