EDC 2. Food
- Carry some protein bars, nuts or similar things you like for emergencies. I always find the kids will get hungry and that can save the day. Keep more and bulkier foods in your car for emergencies.
- Learn about the edible plants in your area, try them out, make note of where you see them around you.
- A small amount of fishing line and some hooks or lures take up little space, but if you live in areas with lots of water then they could be useful.
- Have a cutting tool if some type (see Safety/Cutting Tool later). I use a Gerber Dime day to day at work etc, as knife laws are pretty strict in Australia. But, it's got pliers, wire cutters and a blade, covering lots of food prep, collection and fishing needs.

I read a prepper tip saying to keep canned dog food in your car. It will keep you alive and you won't be tempted to eat it in non-emergencies.
I prefer sardines or canned mackerel myself.
That's very true, never thought of that. Certainly for emergencies only 😂
i would just add that dry cat food actually doesn't taste too bad, possibly may last longer
only thing is, it's not very salty, so you gotta stash salt too, but because it's all dry and no metal container, that's a big win in weight and bulk
Can confirm 😂
yeah, i don't get cats
they love the meats
but you give them this junk and they eat it
i found, when i was in bulgaria, that they started putting TVP instead of meat
the cats would just lick the gravy and refuse to eat the solids, and ilooked at them, i know TVP, i grew up SDA, i know TVP
sick
anyway, yes, the dry food is actually literally better... because it's not soy
We've got cats too, so in a bug out situation pet food would be good to have on hand.
