personally, i am not religious, and most Jews are Atheists.  i do not know if G-d exists or not but more importantly if he exists i do not know what he wants from me, since it is pretty obvious the Torah was written by us Jews and not him.

thus i could care less what the Torah or the Talmud says because it is not the word of G-d ( neither is the Bible ) but precautionary principle dictates that G-d should be treated with respect just in case he exists.  We just simply shouldn't pretend that we know who or what he is and what he wants.
