…ak/ar platforms are very effective close and mid range offensive and defensive weapons but automatic and semiautomatic rifles are notoriously inaccurate (variable/inconsistent chamber pressures…why? because the pressure is channeled into cartridge ejection with pressures varying with speed of ejection…why does this matter? because consistent chamber pressure results in consistent muzzle velocity which is the key to accuracy (repetively tight groups))…they are however a lot of fun to shoot and great for certain hunting applications (ie large sounders of destructive wild pigs)
There is a reason that all professional snipers and competitive shooters use bolt action or single shot firearms (consistent chamber pressure and therefore consistent muzzle velocity= maximum accuracy)… I would think any person who was motivated to do anything this destructive would spend the 5 minutes of research time it takes to find the most appropriate firearm for their purpose (no matter how foolish and or evil that purpose may be).
Imho: this is a concerted effort to vilify semiautomatic weapons…which although less accurate for single targets (ie attempted assassination of a single person) are extremely effective at combat and defense in the chaotic circumstances of close and mid range combat…these weapons are in large part why organized elite groups (often foreign invaders or their proxies) are unable to tame indigenous (less organized) groups in war torn areas…some folks can’t see why that would be important and others know very well why it may be important.
