 Construction workers, off-duty aid officer come to the rescue
==========

More than 10 residents were rescued by construction workers and an off-duty Civil Aid Service member. The aid officer, named Chow, heard screams and called the construction workers to cut a wire fence hindering the residents. They also used a water hose to fight the fire. One of the construction workers, named Man, said they erected ladders, used a crane to rescue an elderly man, and saved more than 10 people. The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong arranged temporary accommodations for the affected residents. The DAB secured rooms in seven hotels, but it may not be enough due to a tight hotel room supply. Approximately 40 households were affected. Charity organizations Lok Sin Tong and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals offered financial support, funeral services, and compensation to the affected residents.
