i actually like npub.prob BECAUSE it hides the nostr layer. people don't really need to know that they're using nostr. for example, web pages don't have links to explain http or links to w3c.org. i do realize that many websites did have this in the early days, so maybe minimal links in the footer to nostr.com could be beneficial or something along those lines?
The problem here is different: I find a nice Nostr blog and I can't follow the author at the moment because it is not possible to get the npub. I don't find that he also posts interesting short notes every day. It's not a matter of explaining the protocol (which wouldn't be a bad thing, if posted discreetly, as suggested), but of embracing interoperability and discoverability.
