Even if they actively want to NOT use Twitter anymore because of what it's become, they still NEED to use it because it fills gaps Mastodon won't or can't (largely because of the benign network effect of getting libraries, meteorologists, municipalities, etc. to move collectively)

I wish I could cite who described Mastodon in that way, but... you can't search for something like that. :/
