Jalapenos evolved spice to deter things from eating it, but it actually made it the most consumed pepper in the world by humans

At least you didn't find the world first inconsistency in an evolution hypothesis
 hahaha

but i suppose from a propogation standpoint, they hitched their wagon accidentally to the only species that will actively grow the plant, so accidental success in a sense 🙂
Or did peppers just play the game better than nearly any other?

Reminds me of this quote:

Ten thousand years ago wheat was just a wild grass, one of many, confined to a small range in the Middle East. Suddenly, within just a few short millennia, it was growing all over the world. According to the basic evolutionary criteria of survival and reproduction, wheat has become one of the most successful plants in the history of the earth.

By making yourself yummy you ensure that you will be mass planted and mass reproduced.
 Everything's good for jalapenos.
