The KKK were all over. For a short period of time, as a college student,  I lived in a house Menomonie Wis. The home had belonged to a state senator. In the attic I found a stack of KKK newsletters. Pretty bizarre, I gave them to the history dept of the University. Northern Wisconsin is still a Republican area. 

 @077e1dff Yes, they were all over. They were also especially concentrated in Indiana in what historian Linda Gordon calls the "second coming" of the KKK.
