We're in decline, but I don't agree with the doomers who say we couldn't turn it around, long-term. But turn-around is only probable if the population isn't constantly diluted with large numbers of newcomers. Especially unproductive ones with an incompatible culture. We're not mass-importing Brazilian engineers, Indian software developers, and South African doctors, after all. A lot of us wish we were, but they're usually like, Nah, bro. This is the Japanawse way so far, and I support it. The powers that be, not so much, and the pressure they're putting on Japanese public opinion to make it amenable to immigration is enormous and along the same lines used in Europe -- "who will pay your pension and wipe your dementia-ridden ass?" It's almost like they all put in place these "public service and pension" unsustainable Ponzi schemes, created the problem, and now insist that they have the solution.
*Not to mention the 30 year long propaganda campaign against zero inflation that the Japanese people have be subjected to, culminating in the current Abenomics aberration in which the government managed to increase the sales tax and purposely created massive inflation.

Western civilization/culture has always been multi-ethnic, and that's not the cause of major strife, just as within the Islamic world. To remain desirable, the West should welcome from anywhere anyone who can make the West a better place, as it has done for centuries. The West rather needs a better way to get rid of the hostile invaders who want to burn the place down or fundamentally eradicate Western values. Surrendering culture in the name of inclusiveness is just a flagrant own-goal, and certain Western societies have themselves primarily to blame.
