It's been a hot minute since I've had something coherent to say
Make no mistake, the state does NOT want you to homeschool your children.
They will make it harder and harder to do so any way that they can.
One of the attack vectors that I've seen grow recently, is to seed the idea in the public (npc) mind that homeschoolers are somehow "wierd" and "anti-social" and somehow stunted by not having gone through state approved indoctrination.

Go and have a chat with an npc and ask them casually what their thoughts are about homeschooling and you hear the poison that the state has sown with your own ears.
That attack vector has been a primary slur for at least 2 decades and I think it's wearing thinner than it was in the past because so many people kept homeschooling after the state's unforced error during covid
 Well said, Bravo!
In the 6 years that we've been homeschooling, I've never had anyone react badly to the news that we homeschool. Some have given me question regarding the socialization of my kids, but then I remind them that the kids AND most teachers at public school aren't really the type of kids or adults I want my kids socializing with in the first place... at least not without my supervision. They have ALWAYS agree with that sentiment.
Since the covid era, I've only received comments like "Good for you" or "Good job", or "I wish I could homeschool my kids.!" To which I always reply that they can. Most argue with me. But even the many public school teachers that I know personally, know that the public school system is crumbling. It can't happen fast enough. No one should outsource their children's education, if they can help it. There are certain circumstances where it can't be avoided. Public school is designed for those kids.
