It’s funny to me when people say the left in the U.S. is captured by media and mainstream media. Perhaps, but what about the right? Always 🦗 I’m old enough to remember the rise of Fox News post 9/11 and the fear and war mongering from Rupert Murdoch’s media empire. Fox News 100% molded the Republican Party into its own image, completely capture by Fox News media. That is the great capture right before our eyes.

I find this a lot with leftist. You guys are worried about boogeymen from twenty years ago. Fox News is nothing now. Twenty years ago I was on your side and I was worried about the right. Because they were the party in power and you’re right to accuse them of everything they did. It’s all true. Today it’s the democrats who we must resist because they’re the new censors, the new warmongers, the new big business champions. They’re in power and they must be resisted. We must always resist the party in power. It’s the only way.

Yeah, you’ve been consistent in that statement and it’s not a bad instinct, I get it. For me it’s not as simple as “the left are in power.” Depends on where. Which state, which issue, which policy, etc. but I get your point. I personally enjoy hearing completely different views on a daily basis to try to check my own assumptions. At least I try, I honestly do.

I mean say what you want about the Republican Party, but at least they are a functioning and legitimate democratic political organization. This new version of the democrat party is… I don’t even know what to call it. Codified oligarchy? No one voted for Kamala Harris. It doesn’t seem like it matters who the D nominee is. Just put in a puppet and tell the brainwashed faithful to vote for it. That’s just as if not more troubling to me as when Fox News had control of the airwaves in 2004.

While I agree with you, for the same reasons (basically, I am old enough to remember), you are forgetting that Trump has disrupted all that. Remember how in 2015, and even after being elected, Fox attacked Trump and built the "Nevertrumper" Republican movement. They only stopped after an all-out war when Trump forced them to submission, destroying then-Fox darling Megyn Kelly's career (and more people's) in the process. Same thing with the GOP in general. Trump has destroyed the right leg of the Neocon Uniparty and has made it into something else, at least for as long as he is there. That alone merits more than any policy Trump may enact. The "media" and the "intelligentsia" behind it in academic circles and dark offices, the powers behind the curtains, are fully aligned with the Democratic Party now precisely because its apparatus has resisted effectively against any sort of similar movement. Trump in fact did not come from within the GOP, that's how he managed to destroy it. There is no Trump, and no risk of a Trump-like figure emerging from within the Democratic leg of the Neocon Uniparty. Ergo the whole system in block aligns behind it.

Conservative stations (like Murdoch owns) are mostly rural. The liberals own the cities and urban areas (Soros). That's what happened. Old voters in farm communities watch FOX. City kids watch CNN. You can see why the Democrats have blue density, while the Republicans have large areas of red.
