India: 10-year-old girl dies shortly after eating her birthday cake ordered online

A 10-year-old girl in Patiala, Punjab died from suspected food poisoning after eating a cake ordered online for her birthday. The girl's younger sister and the rest of her family also fell sick after consuming the cake. The cake was ordered from a bakery called 'Cake Kanha' in Patiala. Videos of the girl's cake-cutting and birthday celebration were shared on social media before her death. The family ordered the cake at 6:00 pm on March 24, and by 10:00 pm the same night, the family fell sick. The girl complained of thirst and a dry mouth, and later went to sleep. Her condition worsened the next morning, and she was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead. The family suspects that the cake may have been poisonous. An FIR has been filed against the owner of 'Cake Kanha' and an investigation is underway. The postmortem has been conducted, and a sample from the cake has been sent for testing.
