1. the slap itself was a failure. He should've planted Chris Rock on the ground, but he loses his footing and most of the force leaves the slap. That's also why he looks so weird during it: he's slapping while simultaneously pivoting his body to regain balance because he slipped during the windup.
2. Chris Rock made fun of Will Smith's wife, who is CRINGE. A super CRINGE person. 200% CRINGE. Also LAME.
3. Will Smith's wrath isn't genuine. He was happy with the joke until he noticed that his wife wasn't happy with it.
