"Can Blockchain Technology Save the Planet?" Lol no. https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/111/131/604/242/417/888/original/78b4626cdd7fe6a0.png
@5b00f2ed I invoke betteridges law on headlines: if it's a question it can be answered with "no". ...Why do they write this like like the opening for a public speech? I don't get who they think this kind of writing would appeal to and inspire to actually contact them except techbros who are *already* into blockchain..
@gamingonlinux@mastodon.socia lmao.l Bettridges's law of headlines says the presentation is gonna be like "well, no, BUT HERE is why we're SO important that sustainability doesn't matter!!!!!!!" or some other fucking garbage @0f360dc9
@5b00f2ed *Sigh* the block chain is even the interesting component of a failure of an experiment It's not an accident it's not named blockcoin It has essentially a single use case, and arguably none w/o a sensible consensus protocol which has yet to be proposed b/c all current proposals don't accomplish stated goals If there is magic in cryptocurrency its so obviously asymmetric cryptography+merkle tree. Hence the name Bitcoin, as in BitTorrent b/c the common use of merkle tree
