It’s because so many folks here remember the internet as being a cool new thing with so much potential, not just a place where Fb and Yt lives … and where the  corporate world bombards you with a neverending stream of ads.

 I was running a dial-up FidoNet BBS when I first heard about the Internet. Within a year I was running my county's first ISP (dial-up, of course)! Those were magical days.
